I went on a photo trip to Byers Cave last Sunday, and had a great time. It had been a little while since I’d been, so it felt great to be back. The photographer, Nathan Williams, is fantastic!
He was using a lighting technique called CFL-SIT, which stands for Compact Fluorescent Lamp-Sustained Illumination Technique. He had 3 CFL lights mounted to a pole, powered by a big 12 volt battery and an inverter. It was amazing!
He used a Lumedyne strobe a bit as well, but the majority of the light was provided by the CFLs. I’m REALLY tempted to put together my own system now!
Definitely check out Nathan’s photostream. He has some GREAT stuff.
